Columbia Steel looks forward to ISRI 2022. See you there!

Join Us at ISRI 2022 in Las Vegas, Booth 1718

Every year, commodities recycling representatives gather for the annual Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) convention and exposition. While COVID forced last year’s event to go virtual, we’re excited to join our colleagues in person once again for ISRI 2022, March 21-24 in Las Vegas. This year, Columbia Steel will display its innovative solutions for the scrap metal industry and debut an exciting new product line.

Significant Industry Challenges

Like many industries, recycling companies face new pandemic-related challenges that show no sign of easing. First, persistent supply chain breakdowns and ocean freight delays have created significant parts availability and deliverability problems. Secondly, workforce shortages have lengthened project timelines and added delays nearly everywhere. In short, the recycling industry needs vendors who can deliver high-quality domestically-manufactured products. Columbia Steel delivers in both these areas.

Columbia Steel’s ISRI Offerings

At ISRI 2022, Columbia Steel will showcase its line of replacement wear parts for scrap metal recycling machinery, including: grates, wall liners, top grates and front wall liners. Instead of mimicking original manufacturing designs, we optimize wear-parts by using our proprietary manganese and alloy steels to cast improved replacement parts that last longer and perform better.

Our engineering team designed these improvements based on conversations with our customers about how well existing products have met their needs. If customers can’t find exactly what they’re looking for or need products delivered on a particular timeline, we can find individualized solutions to help them succeed.

Debuting New Shredder Hammers

In addition to our regular slate of replacement wear-parts, Columbia Steel will also debut a new line of alloy steel shredder hammers, which is one of the primary wear-parts in scrap metal recycling machines. We’ve entered into a strategic manufacturing agreement with another US foundry that is optimized to produce the hammers efficiently using our superior steel alloy. The partnership will enable us to deliver high-quality products with faster timelines and lower production costs.

The Right Partner at the Right Time

Working together with another US foundry is another example of how our capabilities make us the right partner to meet significant industry challenges, such as supply chain breakdowns and workforce shortages. Plus, all of our products are made in the USA, which means our customers don’t have to worry about facing long ocean freight delays for important replacement parts to keep their machinery running.

What’s more, our focus on service and engineering product solutions can minimize lead time delays. We currently have more than 3,000 scrap shredder patterns available to make wear parts without additional tooling time required, and many of those parts already have improvements included in their design. Scrap metal recyclers who partner with Columbia Steel can rest assured that they’ll receive higher-performing replacement parts on an improved timeline than many of our competitors can offer.

Service Makes the Difference

With the ISRI expo fast approaching, our team is gearing up to showcase the best of what Columbia Steel has to offer. Now more than ever, we’re emphasizing our spirit of service and willingness to go the extra mile to meet our customers’ needs. We believe that’s what it will take to meet this challenging moment for the industry, and our legacy of providing superior service puts us in an excellent position to care for our customers. If you’ll be in Las Vegas for the show, stop by booth 1718 and say hello!
