1. Our commitment to your privacy
This site is owned and operated by Columbia Steel Casting Co., Inc. (“Columbia Steel”). Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us, and we want to make your experience when using our site satisfying and safe.
3. About the information we gather and track
Columbia Steel gathers two types of information about the users of this site:
a. Personal Information. Personally-identifiable information that users provide through optional, voluntary submissions: This includes information such as your name, address, e-mail address, phone number, fax number, and details regarding your entity and products that you sell (“Personal Information”). These voluntary submissions will allow you to receive our electronic product updates, to receive printed brochures, to forward an electronic product update to a friend, to request information regarding becoming an agent to sell our products, to post comments on our P.O.V. Blog, to request information regarding employment, to communicate with us via e-mail, and to engage in other activities that we disclose to you when we ask for your Personal Information; and
b. Anonymous Information. Anonymous information we receive from your use of the site (“Anonymous Information”): Anonymous Information includes information gathered through aggregated site user tracking derived mainly by tallying page views throughout our site. We may also automatically collect and store the following types of Anonymous Information: The name of the domain and host from which you access the Internet and the Internet protocol address of your computer, information about the browser type and operating system you use, information about the date and time you access the site, the site you visited just prior to visiting our site, page response times, download errors, and other similar information.
To help make the site more responsive to the needs of our visitors, we may also use a standard feature found in browser software called a “cookie” to assign each visitor a unique, random number, a sort of anonymous user ID that resides in your computer. The cookie does not identify the Personal Information of the visitor; rather, it identifies the computer that a visitor uses to access the site. A cookie cannot read data off of your hard drive. The cookie may store site statistics, user preferences, information about your browser, and other identifying information. Most browsers automatically accept the cookies, but you can disable the acceptance of cookies at any time by changing the preferences in your browser, or you can have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie. Certain site pages and features may not function properly if you choose to disable the acceptance of cookies.
4. How we use your information
a. Personal Information
When you supply us with your Personal Information, we will use it for the express purpose stated when we ask for such Personal Information. In addition to other services described in Section 3(a) above, we offer the following free services, which require some type of voluntary submission of Personal Information by users:
(i) Electronic product updates and printed material requests policy — We offer free electronic product updates and printed brochures to users. Columbia Steel gathers the email address of users who voluntarily subscribe to our product updates. Users may remove themselves from this mailing list by following the link provided in every electronic update that points users to the subscription management page.
(ii) “Forward this email” policy — Our site users can choose to electronically forward our product updates to third parties by clicking “e-mail this to a friend.” The user must provide their email address, as well as that of the recipient. This information is used only to send the e-mail to the recipient, to contact you in the case of transmission errors and, of course, to let the recipient know who sent the email. The information is not used for any other purpose.
b. Anonymous Information
We collect Anonymous Information in an effort to ensure that our site will appear and function appropriately on your computer, to help us improve our site and our products, and so we may determine which website referred you to the site. Your Internet protocol address is used to help identify you. At times, we may retain third parties to analyze Anonymous Information we collect to help us improve our site and products and services by, for example, learning details regarding the number of visitors to our site and what pages of the site visitors frequent most.
c. Personal Information and Anonymous Information
Columbia Steel operates data networks protected by industry standard firewall and password protection systems to protect against the loss, misuse, alteration, or unauthorized access of Personal Information we collect from you. Our security and privacy policies are periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary, and only authorized individuals have access to the Personal Information and Anonymous Information provided by our customers and site users.
7. Opt-out policy
We give users options to not provide Personal Information to Columbia Steel or to opt-out of receiving communications from Columbia Steel wherever necessary and practical. Such choices include opting not to register to receive our electronic product updates, or opting out at a later date. At any time, you can review or change your Personal Information, have Columbia Steel remove your account from our database, or opt-out of receiving further communications from Columbia Steel, by contacting us either via the “contact us” mechanism at the bottom of this page, or via e-mail, phone, fax, or address, as set forth below. Please note that if you request that your account be deleted from our database or request that you no longer receive communications from us, you may receive an automatic e-mail from Columbia Steel resulting from your request. If you request that your account be deleted from our database or if you request that your Personal Information be changed, we may maintain your existing Personal Information and information about your activities and transactions on and through the site for the purpose of recordkeeping and servicing, and to comply with our retention policy described below.
