3. About the information we gather and track

Columbia Steel gathers two types of information about the users of this site:

a. Personal Information. Personally-identifiable information that users provide through optional, voluntary submissions: This includes information such as your name, address, e-mail address, phone number, fax number, and details regarding your entity and products that you sell (“Personal Information”). These voluntary submissions will allow you to receive our electronic product updates, to receive printed brochures, to forward an electronic product update to a friend, to request information regarding becoming an agent to sell our products, to post comments on our P.O.V. Blog, to request information regarding employment, to communicate with us via e-mail, and to engage in other activities that we disclose to you when we ask for your Personal Information; and

b. Anonymous Information. Anonymous information we receive from your use of the site (“Anonymous Information”): Anonymous Information includes information gathered through aggregated site user tracking derived mainly by tallying page views throughout our site. We may also automatically collect and store the following types of Anonymous Information: The name of the domain and host from which you access the Internet and the Internet protocol address of your computer, information about the browser type and operating system you use, information about the date and time you access the site, the site you visited just prior to visiting our site, page response times, download errors, and other similar information.

To help make the site more responsive to the needs of our visitors, we may also use a standard feature found in browser software called a “cookie” to assign each visitor a unique, random number, a sort of anonymous user ID that resides in your computer. The cookie does not identify the Personal Information of the visitor; rather, it identifies the computer that a visitor uses to access the site. A cookie cannot read data off of your hard drive. The cookie may store site statistics, user preferences, information about your browser, and other identifying information. Most browsers automatically accept the cookies, but you can disable the acceptance of cookies at any time by changing the preferences in your browser, or you can have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie. Certain site pages and features may not function properly if you choose to disable the acceptance of cookies.

4. How we use your information

When you supply us with your Personal Information, we will use it for the express purpose stated when we ask for such Personal Information. In addition to other services described in Section 3(a) above, we offer the following free services, which require some type of voluntary submission of Personal Information by users:
