In October 2007, Columbia Steel received an Energy Stewardship Star certificate during a presentation by the Energy Trust of Oregon and Pacific Power. Accepting on behalf of the company was Environmental Engineer Bruce Schacht. From pollution prevention to finding new ways to recycle used sand, Bruce works with our employees, suppliers, and many other outside sources, while navigating local and national regulations, as part of our company’s commitment to responsible environmental practices.

“The Energy Steward Star Award is the first joint award given by Pacific Power and the Energy Trust of Oregon,” said Lynn Everett, Corporate Account Manager at Pacific Power. The award “recognizes the leading energy conservation and sustainability practitioners among large, medium and small businesses in the Pacific Power service area.” Companies are nominated by Pacific Power and the Energy Trust of Oregon based on demonstrated improvements in practices that affect the environment, including reduction of pollution and energy usage, and resource conservation.
