Columbia Steel is now producing grapple links cast out of high strength alloy steel. The cast grapple link is quickly proving itself to be a better solution to the common fabricated grapple link it is replacing.
The cast links, which are manufactured as one piece, are substantially stronger and less likely to fail during use than the standard fabricated grapple link. Columbia Steel's advanced alloys and improved design offer this improved performance.
Columbia Steel product engineers worked with the customer in designing the grapple link. The original fabricated part was overstressed and often saw premature breakage. Columbia Steel used solid modeling and finite element analysis (FEA) to redesign a new cast version.
The grapple link is cast out of a high strength martensitic steel alloy developed by Columbia Steel. This alloy provides a combination of high strength and toughness.
